An Olds firefighter will attempt a Guinness World Record by running a half marathon in full firefighting gear, including an air tank, while breathing through the apparatus.

Noel D’Arcy will be running in the Servus Edmonton Marathon on Sunday in Edmonton.

D’Arcy will run the 21.1 kilometres in support of the Terry Fox Foundation to eradicate cancer.

“The half marathon distance is the challenge I want to conquer personally. In doing this, it is an excellent opportunity to bring awareness to the Terry Fox Foundation, which is a charity I believe in,” D’Arcy said.
