Ponoka RCMP seek suspects in armed robbery of lounge

A Ponoka lounge was robbed at gunpoint early Saturday evening and police are looking for two suspects.

At 6:15 p.m., the suspects entered the lounge with one carrying what police believe was a shotgun. One of the suspects pointed the shotgun towards the bartender while the other brandished a large knife.

They left the scene with an undisclosed amount of money and lottery tickets. They got into a waiting Kia Sorrento in the parking lot, with an unidentified driver.

The vehicle sped away, but was found later, abandoned. Police said it had been reported stolen from Red Deer.

No patrons or staff were injured during the robbery.

Police describe the first suspect as a Caucasian male, about 1.88 metres tall (six-foot-two) and weighs about 99 to 108 kg (220 to 240 pounds). He wore a white hoodie with a grey checkered pattern on the shoulders and hood, a white full face balaclava, white gloves, blue camo pants and dark or black running shoes. Police said he carried a light coloured sawed off shotgun was possible white with spray paint. The weapon also had a black sling.

The second suspect is described police as about a male about 1.72 metres tall (five-foot-eight) and of average build. He wore a grey hoodie with a half face balaclava, light blue jeans, a black satchel style bag on his right and tan work boots with a black toe. He held the knife in his right hand.

Police do not have a description of the vehicle driver.
