Blackfalds RCMP are investigating shots fired near a rural property in Poplar Ridge west of Red Deer Friday night, including one round that struck an unoccupied bedroom in a home.

No one inside the home was injured.

At about 8 p.m. police responded to a report that three rounds were fired from a westbound vehicle on Township Road 384 near the intersection of Range Road 283.

Police said it was not a targeted shooting and believe the shooter was unaware of the location of the residence.

The witness did not have a description of the vehicle.
