Alberta to help with storm damage
EDMONTON — Alberta will dip into the treasury to help people who suffered uninsurable losses due to severe storms over the summer.
The province says it will spend up to $58 million to help cover damage in six regions of the province.
They include Edmonton, the Capital Region, Calgary, Brooks, north-central Alberta and areas around the communities of Youngstown and Consort.
Most of the money will go to cover flood damage repairs to property and roads from storms in June and July.
People who need information about the program should check the Alberta Emergency Management Agency website at www.aema.alberta.ca.
The province says registration centres will be set up in each of the six regions.
