Bail ruling next month for Edmonton couple accused of abusing twins
EDMONTON — Two Edmonton parents accused of neglecting and abusing their twin toddlers will find out next month if they’ll be freed on bail.
The parents, who cannot be named to protect the identities of the children, appeared in court Tuesday seeking their release from custody.
They are charged with aggravated assault, criminal negligence causing bodily harm and failing to provide the necessities of life.
Police have said paramedics who were called to the couple’s home on May 25 found one of the two-year-old girls in cardiac arrest and the other with numerous injuries.
Investigators said doctors indicated the girls were severely malnourished.
A judge will rule on the bail application July 6.
