Drayton Valley bans flouride from tap water

DRAYTON VALLEY — Fluoride will no longer be found in the tap water in Drayton Valley.

Town council has decided to cease adding fluoride at its water treatment plant indefinitely.

Mayor Moe Hamdon says fluoridation was scrapped after council reviewed information critical of the practice.

He adds a majority of town residents also oppose adding the chemical to their drinking water.

Fluoridation was temporarily suspended in June when the town was told it had to upgrade equipment at the water treatment plant.
