Horner’s wife flights has Alberta Wildrose party calling for his resignation
CALGARY — The Wildrose party is calling on Alberta Finance Minister Doug Horner to resign and pay the cost of flying family members on government aircraft.
CBC reports that a review of flight logs found that Horner took his wife with him on government aircraft at least 23 times while Tory leadership candidate Thomas Lukaszuk (loo-KAH’-zuhk) took his eldest daughter with him on seven flights between 2007 and 2012.
Lukaszuk says he has repaid the government for his daughter’s flights but Horner has not.
Wildrose finance critic Rob Anderson says if the report is true, Horner acted just like former premier Alison Redford did by taking her daughter several times on government aircraft.
He says Horner should repay taxpayers and resign immediately.
Anderson says leadership candidate Jim Prentice should also make an example of Horner and cut him from his campaign team.
