Police searching for driver of truck that fled fatal crash

IRRICANA — Police are searching for the occupants of a truck that fled after a fatal head-on crash northeast of Calgary.

Mounties say they got to the scene of the crash on Highway 9, a few kilometres south of Irricana, early this morning after a passerby called 911.

They found a 51-year-old woman from Bieseker dead, but no one else around.

The Calgary police’s helicopter was called in but did not spot the vehicle from the air.

Mounties say the driver of the 2005 Dodge Ram truck will have extensive facial and head injuries, as well as possible chest injuries.

Investigators are checking with hospitals and health care centres for someone coming in with those injuries.
