Shutdown Edmonton-area gun range told it can once again lock and load
SPRUCE GROVE — Gun owners will be able to open fire again at an Edmonton-area shooting range that was targeted by area homeowners over concerns about stray bullets and noise.
The Spruce Grove Gun Range was ordered closed by Parkland County last month when some property owners appealed a development permit renewal for the site.
The range launched its own fight against the closure order and an appeal board ruled Thursday that the facility can fire up again under certain conditions.
Doug Tymchyshyn, the board’s secretary, says the club can’t reopen until noise and safety concerns are addressed.
Tymchyshyn also says the range must work with Alberta’s chief firearms officer to ensure those conditions are met.
Bill Newton, a gun range spokesman, says they also want to work with surrounding homeowners to help alleviate their concerns. (CHED)
