Transmission lines approved
An Alberta Utilities Commission panel has approved AltaLink’s preferred route to rebuild transmission lines, new lines and substations in Red Deer and area.
In a report released late on Tuesday night, the commission said it is satisfied the estimated $322-million transmission line project is consistent with and meets the need as set out in the need identification document approval for the Red Deer region.
Preferred routes for the rebuild of transmission line in Red Deer were approved including the route through Cronquist Close area; through Riverlands, Railyards and through the Pines neighbourhoods.
Other preferred routes for transmission lines and substations around Sylvan Lake Didsbury, Innisfail and Ponoka areas were also approved.
In reaching its decision, the commission considered all records of the hearings, the evidence and submissions by all parties.
The Alberta Utilities Commission ordered public hearings in Red Deer to review AltaLink’s plans over the last couple of years.
