Man fleeing police crashes his car into crowd

LETHBRIDGE — Police in southern Alberta say three people were injured when a man drove his car at them outside a bar.

Investigators in Lethbridge say staff at Pulse Nightclub tried to eject a group of unruly men from the bar early Saturday morning, but they allege the men fought back.

Police allege the men also fought when officers showed up.

One of the men fled to his car, drove directly into a crowd of people, and then crashed into two vehicles before coming to a stop.

He tried to run for it but police caught him.

Police say none of the people who were hit were seriously injured.

Yannick Kalala Kanyungu, 25, of Calgary is charged with assault with a weapon, dangerous driving, impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

He has been released and will appear in court Feb. 2.

Three other men also face charges ranging from assault to resisting a police officer.
