RCMP seeking Good Samaritan possibly from Rimbey area

Drayton Valley RCMP are looking for a good Samaritan who may have given a suspect a lift to Rimbey.

On Thursday at approximately 2:10 p.m., Drayton Valley RCMP responded to the theft of a red 2008 Ford Sport Trac that had been left running while parked outside a local business. The owner observed a Caucasian male, dark hair, short in stature, wearing a hoodie, get into the vehicle and drive off.

Members located the vehicle eastbound on Hwy 22, east of Drayton Valley and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle turned around and headed back towards Drayton Valley at a high rate of speed. The member was able to observe the driver who matched the description provided by the complainant.

Again, on Thursday, at approximately 5 p.m., a second vehicle, a white 2008 Saturn Outlook, was taken from a garage in Drayton Valley. This vehicle was later recovered in the ditch on Hwy 53 and RR 33, in the Rimbey area.

A passerby reportedly picked up the driver and took him into Rimbey.

Drayton Valley RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance with locating the Good Samaritan that picked up the driver.
