Red Deer man charged in fuel theft from gas station

Innisfail RCMP charged a man in connection with fuel theft at Innisfail Esso on Tuesday while driving a stolen truck.

Police said the owner of the gas station attempted to stop the suspect and was injured.

On Thursday police were called about a suspicious vehicle parked at the Markerville campground with two people sleeping inside.

The vehicle was confirmed stolen and inside police found suspected stolen property, numerous weapons and other items.

Both people were arrested on multiple outstanding warrants from other Alberta police detachments.

A 25-year-old Red Deer man was charged with offences relating to the fuel theft, as well as using stolen credit cards in Didsbury.

His charges included dangerous driving, failing to remain at the scene of a collision, robbery, possession of break-in tools, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of ammunition. He was also charged with two counts of possession of property over $5,000, two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, three counts of using a stolen credit card, and four counts of breach of probation.

He was remanded into custody and will appear in Red Deer provincial court on Tuesday.

A 19-year-old Red Deer woman was charged with possession of property over $5,000, possession of break-in tools and two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace.

She was custody pending release on bail and is scheduled to appear in Red Deer provincial court on Tuesday.
