Red Deer RCMP are seeking male suspect who shoved an elderly woman and stole her car

An 82-year-old woman was pushed to the ground in downtown Red Deer by a man who then stole her car and her purse.

Red Deer RCMP are seeking public assistance in identifying a man who drove off with the woman’s car on Sunday afternoon.

RCMP received a report at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 1 that a man had pushed an 82 year old woman to the ground after she exited the back door of Gaetz Memorial Church downtown and was attempting to enter her car, which was parked in the alley.

The suspect stole the car and the victim’s purse.

RCMP made extensive patrols in the area, but did not locate the suspect. Officers did locate the car, which was abandoned nearby. The victim was not injured in this incident.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, tall and stocky, with short brown hair with a longer strip on top. He was wearing a white coat with the letters “L.A.” in blue on the back. The right sleeve was white and the left sleeve was blue.
