Two people were taken into custody after a lengthy armed police presence in Red Deer Thursday.
At about 9:45 p.m., Red Deer RCMP, and the Alberta Emergency Response Team, left the scene in the 5100 block of 37th Street. They had been at the scene since about 2:30 Thursday afternoon.
Police evacuated an apartment building to ensure the safety of the public. Roads were blocked off and access to the buildings in the area was limited in the afternoon and into the evening. A bus took displaced residents of the apartment building to the Collicutt Centre.
Few details were released about the nature of the incident at press time.
Red Deer RCMP thank the public for its co-operation and will issue an update when more information is available.
