Red Deer woman to be sentenced in May on child pornography charges

Woman was arrested in June 2016 for allegedly sending photos of four-year-old son over the Internet

A Red Deer mother will be sentenced in May on sexual assault and child pornography charges.

The 44-year-old woman is accused of sending photos of her four-year-old son over the Internet to a man in the United States.

Investigators in Idaho alerted local police that a Red Deer boy was at risk in May 2016 based on evidence seized from a separate investigation.

The woman was arrested at the licensed daycare where she worked in June 2016. Police said at the time they do not believe the alleged abuse occurred at the daycare.

The woman, who can’t be named to protect the identity of her victim, will be sentenced on May 25 in Red Deer provincial court on charges of sexual assault, making child pornography and distributing child pornography.
