Regina police have charged a woman in the death of her 18-month-old son.

Police say officers were called to a home in the city on June 10 along with EMS and found an injured child.

The boy was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service began investigating and termed the death a homicide on July 15.

Police say a suspect was arrested on Tuesday south of Winnipeg.

Chelsea Rae Whitby, who is 24, has been charged with manslaughter and is to make her first court appearance in Regina on Thursday.
