Seniors Week offers free recreation

Seniors get free entry to all city recreation facilities next week

City of Red Deer is honouring seniors in the community by offering free admission and discounted monthly passes to recreation facilities.

“Whether it’s giving their time, talent or life experience, seniors’ contributions are at the heart of our vibrant community,” says Barb McKee, the city’s recreation superintendent.

“The city offers a wide variety of recreation services for all levels, abilities and interests that help our Red Deer seniors stay healthy, active and connected.”

To celebrate Seniors Week, which runs June 5-11, the city is offering citizens 65 years and over free admission to all recreation facilities. Seniors can drop in anytime during the week to take part in dozens of activities in the pool, gym or fitness classes.

Seniors can visit all four community recreation centres to take advantage of the promotion: Collicutt Centre (3031-30 Avenue), G.H. Dawe Community Centre (56 Holt Street), Michener Aquatic Centre (51A Street and 38 Avenue) and the Recreation Centre (4501-47A Avenue)

In addition to the free week, the city is also offering 25 per cent off all senior monthly pass cards purchased during the month of June.
