A man wanted in connection with a recent assault was found with a loaded sawed-off shotgun, says Rocky Mountain House RCMP.
Police said on Feb. 11, police arrested a suspect during a traffic stop while they were investigating an assault.
In addition to the firearm, equipment used to forge credit cards was also seized.
Richard Chip Francoeur, 31, of no fixed address, was charged with 15 offences that included assault, mischief under $5,000, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of instruments intended to forge credit cards, and four counts of possessing a firearm and ammunition contrary to prohibition order.
Francoeur was released from custody with conditions, and to appear in Rocky Mountain House provincial court Feb. 19.
