RCMP apprehended a suspect near Olds in connection to the theft of two vehicles and one side by side on Tuesday.

Olds RCMP said at about 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a residential break and enter east of Olds on Range Road 280 while the owner was at home. Several items were stolen, including keys to a car that was stolen and driven into a ditch a short distance away.

Prior to the break and enter, a vehicle stolen from Didsbury earlier in the day crashed nearby. Police believe the thief who stole that vehicle broke into the residence and stole the car.

Police said the car was also found in a ditch in the area and the suspect then stole a side by side at another residence and fled.

Police followed the tracks of the side by side that led east of Hwy 27 to a residence in Torrington. The suspect was caught without incident when he returned to the side by side and tried to leave.

All the stolen property was recovered.

Charges were laid against a 34-year-old man from the Olds and Didsbury area and will appear in Didsbury provincial court.
