Sylvan Lake armed robbery: Suspect arrested by police

RCMP officers hope to identify a second suspect in the case

An 18-year-old from Maskwacis was arrested and charged in connection to the armed robbery of a Sylvan Lake convenience store.

Maskwacis RCMP arrested the suspect on Tuesday after receiving a tip about firearms in a home.

Two firearms were seized at the residence, and police found evidence leading to the arrest of a young male.

Oscar Jeremy Labelle-Mackinaw, 18, faces 10 criminal code charges in relation to the Sylvan Lake robbery, including robbery with a firearm, disguising with intent, two counts of pointing a firearm, possessing a gun without a licence and while prohibited, and obstructing a police officer

Labelle-Mackinaw remains in custody. He was scheduled to appear Friday in Red Deer provincial court.

Both the Sylvan Lake and Maskwacis RCMP detachments continue to investigate and expect to identify another suspect in this armed robbery.
