The growing popularity of serving food from trucks, vans and buses will see Sylvan Lake kick off its second season of Food Truck Thursday with the promise of good weather leading into the May long weekend.

The event, which is located at 50A Avenue, between 50th and 50A Streets, has been expanded a bit further west this year, and will run Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Seating and washroom facilities are available.

The 2016 season proved successful and ran for 20 weeks last summer. It was aimed at drawing more people into the downtown area, and this year it will run until Sept. 28.

Two of the businesses anticipated at the opening are Longhorn Southern BBQ and Chedda Heads Gourmet Grilled Cheese.

Red Deer Food Truck Friday will kick off a week later on May 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 4740 - 50th St., which is where the familiar red double-decker Cool Beans Coffee Company is located.

The forecast for Thursday in Sylvan is sunny skies and a high of 16C.
