Twenty-five nominees for the 2017 Women of Excellence Awards

Gala to be held June 7

Twenty-five outstanding women from across Central Alberta have been nominated for the 2017 Women of Excellence Awards.

The 10th Annual Women of Excellence Awards program and gala is a celebration of innovation, leadership, achievement and talent of women in Central Alberta. Nominees serve as role models for women and girls.

Nominees include:

  • Agriculture Award: sponsored by Scotiabank — Tracy Gardner, of Red Deer; Allison Ammeter, Red Deer.
  • Arts, Culture and Heritage: Air Canada — Diana Anderson, of Red Deer.
  • Athletics, Recreation and Fitness: The Consider It Done Team, Century 21 Advantage — Nora Styner, of Red Deer.
  • Business and the Professions: Johnston Ming Manning LLP — Archana Chaudhary, of Red Deer; Janice Wing, of Red Deer; Dawna Allard, of Red Deer.
  • Community Building: ATCO Gas — Susan Samson, of Sylvan Lake.
  • Education and Training: Red Deer College — Dorothy Gail Negropontes, of Olds.
  • Entrepreneurship: MNP LLP — Bonnee Gregg and Krista Vandenbrink, of Red Deer; Crystal Lanz, of Sylvan Lake; Carina Moran and Deborah Solda, of Rimbey; Tamara Hughes, of Red Deer.
  • Environment: TD Canada Trust — Nicola (Nikki) Cook, of Olds.
  • Health and Wellness: Warren Sinclair LLP — Charity Angus, of Springbrook; Peggy Church, of Red Deer; Katherine Kemmere, of Olds; Robin Nicholas, of Sylvan Lake.
  • Human Services: Holiday Inn & Suites, of Gasoline Alley — Kath Hoffman, of Red Deer.
  • Young Woman of Excellence: Stantec Consulting — Janelle Weslowski, of Rocky Mountain House; Lucienne Henry, of Clive; Grace Bigazi, of Red Deer; Jordanna Cota, of Red Deer.

A Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Royal Bank of Canada, will also be presented to an exemplary woman who has been a role model for the community for many years.

Award recipients will be announced at the 2017 Women of Excellence Awards Gala on June 7 at the Sheraton Red Deer at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $100 each, reserved tables of eight are $800 each. For tickets call 403-341-6911.

The gala will feature a seated dinner, raffle, and silent auction featuring some amazing prize packages.
