Alice METCALF

METCALF Alice Mary Metcalf (nee Darling) Passed away peacefully at Sylvan Lake Bethany Care Center on September 30, 2004 at the age of 91 years. Born May 7, 1913 in Edwell District. She is survived by her twin brother Bill Darling; her children, Patricia Buchanan of Victoria, Bob (Marg) Metcalf, Sylvan Lake, Phyllis (Wayne) Graham, Edson, Joan Zacharuk, Edmonton, Heather (Kevin) Field, Little Britain, Ontario, Peter (Debbie) Metcalf, Red Deer; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister-in-laws Irene Gray and Flo Darling and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Cliff Metcalf and brothers Pat and Roy Darling. She was most happy when the house on 56th Street in Red Deer was full with people eating and making music. Alice had a very full life with gardening, Institution, IODE, coffee downtown with the ladies and spoiling her grandchildren. Alice was Psych Nurse at Michener Center and touched the lives of those who she worked with and cared for. The family wishes to thank Bethany Care Center staff and Dr. R. Smith for the special care they gave her. A celebration of Alice's life will be held at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Sylvan Lake on Tuesday, October 5, at 11:00 a.m. with tea to follow and internment in Red Deer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Canadian Diabetes Association.
