Alice SMALLWOOD

SMALLWOOD, Alice Alice M. Smallwood of Sylvan Lake, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on February 11, 2005 at the age of 91 years. Alice was born at Baptist Lake, Alberta on November 8, 1913. She was a very social lady who made friends easily because of her outgoing and bubbly personality. Some of the social activities Alice was interested in, included playing Bingo and card games with her friends that she resided with at the Sylvan Lake Lodge. Alice was also a gifted doll maker, and baking was a passion of hers. As well as being a loyal and cheerful friend, Alice was also a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great, great grandmother! Alice will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered and cherished in the hearts of all who knew her. She is survived by four children; Gordon (Helen) Smallwood of Grimshaw, Alberta, Lorraine (Paul) Langlois of Victoria, British Columbia, Ron (Ruth) Smallwood of Surrey, British Columbia, and Gerry (Valerie) Smallwood of Red Deer, Alberta. She also leaves to mourn, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, one sister, Ivy (Lawrence) Simmons of Rimbey, Alberta, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Alice was predeceased by her husband, Vern Smallwood, who passed away in 1986. The family would like to thank the dedicated doctors and staff of Unit 33 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, as well as Dr. Myburg, Dr. Niemand, and Dr. Smith of Sylvan Lake. A Prayer Service will be held at The Red Deer Funeral Home (6150 67th Street) on Monday, February 14, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady Of The Assumption Church (5033 47th Avenue, Sylvan Lake) on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Victor Eze, Celebrant. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the Lakeview Cemetery, Penticton, British Columbia on Thursday, February 17, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Pat Monette, Celebrant.
