ALLISON

June 21, 2005

ALLISON It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear and loving father, friend and mentor, Mr. Colin Allison at his home in Red Deer on Thursday, June 16, 2005 at the age of 81 years. Colin was born on August 3, 1923 at Ashington, Northumberland, England. As a young man, Colin spent the early years of his life sailing the “Seven Seas”. In 1939, he signed on with the Merchant Navy and served for seven years. After the war, Colin served with various shipping lines, eventually ending up with P & O Steamship Lines. In 1952, Colin immigrated to Canada, where he spent a few years serving with Union Steamship Lines, making runs up and down the West Coast. He later moved to Edmonton and eventually to Red Deer, where he accepted a position with the government of Alberta as the District Boiler and Pressure Vessels Inspector. After thirty-two years of service, Colin decided it was time to retire and pursue the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed golfing, cycling, curling, long walks, wood working, shopping, cooking, wine and beer making and just curling up with a good book. Colin was a remarkable man, a deeply devoted and loving father, and a trusted and loyal friend. He will be very sadly missed but lovingly remembered and forever cherished in the hearts of his family and dear friends. Colin leaves to mourn his loss, his loving sons, Colin James (Susan), David (Cindy), Ian (Sandy) and his six grandchildren, Aaron, Ariel, William, Shana (Dave), Krystal (Jeremy) and Daylen. He will also be very sadly missed by his sister, Sheila, as well as numerous nieces and nephews living in England.
