THOMAS Arthur Morgan On August 7, 2008, Arthur Morgan Thomas passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital and is now safe in the arms of Jesus. Leaving to mourn his loving wife, Edith of 61 years; son Ron of Pincher Creek; daughter-in-law Barbara of Eckville; daughters Lois (Fred) Collier of Red Deer, Gwen (Ray) Bellerive of Eckville and Carol (Randy) Rein of Eckville; cousin Kenneth (Joyce) Thomas of Bromley, Kent England; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Arthur was predeceased by one son Ken in May 1980, and his parents John and Ethel Thomas. Arthur was born on May 16, 1917 in Medicine Hat, Alberta; the only child of John and Ethel Thomas. Following graduation he tried his hand at mechanics and agriculture and settled on agriculture as a career. In 1935 he moved with his parents to land in Hespero district. Following the move to the Hespero he met and married Edith Anderson of Hespero. They farmed and lived on that property until 2004. In addition to farming he pursued a 10-year carrier as dispatcher with the RCMP in Rocky Mountain House. Carpentry and ministering God's Word was also part of his life's work. In 2004, Arthur and Edith built a home in Eckville and resided there until May 2008 when they moved to the Eckville Manor. Arthur loved music from the big band sounds of his youth to the gospel music as he grew older. He loved woodworking, reading, his yard and garden and reminiscing about years gone by. He was a devoted husband and father and grandfather. He loved family gatherings, particularly Christmas, a favorite time of year. A Celebration of Arthur's Life will be held at the Bethel Union Church, Leslieville, on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. A private family interment will be held at the Hespero Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in Arthur's memory may be made to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice.
