BARTKO Mr. Frank Bartko of Alix, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Red Deer on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at the age of 74 years. Frank was born in Czechoslovakia on August 10, 1932, and immigrated to Canada with his mother and brother at the age of five years. He grew up in Alix and maintained the family farm. Frank then worked overseas for many years, traveling to many countries and working on drilling rigs. In 1973, Frank was united in marriage to Beatrice Kodak, and together they raised their three girls. He was then employed with CP Rail for 15 years, before retiring in 1990. Frank's hobbies included playing pool, crib, attending farm sales, and bus trips with his wife. Frank will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 34 years, Beatrice; and his daughters, Kathleen (Matthew) Kneeland; Elizabeth Bartko; and Donna (Toby) Bradley; as well as five special grandchildren, Nathanael, Anna, Meagan, and Molly Kneeland and Bauer Bradley. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sister, Margaret (George) Friesen; his brother-in-law, Richard (Barbara) Kodak; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. A Public Funeral Service in Celebration of Frank's Life will be held at the Alix Ag Centre, Alix on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gordon Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in the Lacombe Fairview Cemetery, Lacombe at 2:00 p.m. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Frank's Memory may be made directly to STARS Air Ambulance, Building #16, 29 Airport Road N.W., Edmonton, Alberta T5G 9Z9.
