Bernard MAHONEY

MAHONEY Bernard (Bernie) Malcolm Born in Vegreville, AB on September 1, 1914 and passed away peacefully in Penticton General Hospital on Christmas Day, 2007. Predeceased by his first wife Sigrid in 1994. Bernie is survived by his second wife Elizabeth; his son David (Marlene) of Merritt; his grandchildren Deanna (Shane) Steptoe of Cold Lake, AB and Sean (Mary) of Victoria; His great-grandsons Blake and Brett Steptoe of Cold Lake, AB; His daughter Lynne (Brene) Bakgaard of Richmond; His grandchildren Christopher, Sonja and Brittany Bakgaard of Richmond: his niece Karen (Carl) Buchanan of Langley; his nephew Martin (Yvonne) Andersen of Castlegar. Bernie served in the Army in 1944 to 1946 and then in the Air Force from 1954 to 1964 when then retired to public service with the Department of National Defense. Upon retirement in 1979, he moved to Nanaimo where he resided until 1995 when he moved to Abbotsford. Bernie and Elizabeth moved to Summerland in 2003, where he resided until his passing. A memorial service took place on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Summerland Baptist Church with Pastor Del Riemer officiating. Memorial tributes may be made to Charity of Choice.
