Bessie BOSS

BOSS Bessie (Elizabeth) Boss (Kobi) passed away in Red Deer, Alberta on Sunday, November 30, 2008 after a heroic struggle with failing health. Bessie was born in Endiang, Alberta on November 6, 1924 to Barbara and Emil Kobi. She was the youngest of 9 children. After Bessie and Hank Boss got married, they lived at Vauxhall, where Hank and brother Harry owned and operated a machine shop. They later moved to Byemoor and reopened the old Boss Machine Shop, previously owned by Hank's dad. Bessie resided in Byemoor until April 1973 when she moved to Red Deer. While living in Byemoor she not only raised kids, she also drove school bus, worked at the shop helping with parts and bookkeeping, worked at the post office as well as hauling grain and feeding the men. In Stettler Adult Education, through Red Deer College, Bessie received her Clerk Typist Diploma and worked in Red Deer as a bookkeeper. She cooked at various camps for a short time until she returned to bookkeeping. After having bypass surgery, she retired in 1989. Bessie leaves to mourn her loss 6 children: Chuck (MaryAnn) Taylor of Wilson Island, ON, Pat (Harold) Lehmann of Abbotsford, BC, Sena Walker of Red Deer, AB, Sandy (Ken) Gallagher of Red Deer, AB and Endiang, AB, Harold Boss (Arlene Senkoe) of Westlock, AB, Harlan Boss of Hanna, AB; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sister Elsie Hronek of Halkirk, AB; numerous other family members and special friends. Bessie was predeceased by son Henry; brothers: Bill, Emil, Harry, Herman and Ernie; sisters: Mary and Annie. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Byemoor Community Hall on Monday, December 8, 2008 at 2:00 P.M.
