CAIRNS DORCIE

June 25, 2005

DORCIE JAMES CAIRNS “JIM” It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather in his 80th year on June 20th, 2005. Jim is survived by his loving wife May, and will be sadly missed by his son Gord, his daughter Sandy and husband Mark Dakin, and by his grandchildren Bree, Greg, Melissa and Melanie. The family surviving are brother Walt and wife Myrel Cairns of Bengough, SK, sister Mina and husband Roy Grozell of Kannata Valley, SK, as well as many loving relatives and friends. Jim was born and raised in Bengough, SK As a young man he enlisted in the RAF as an aircraft carpenter, which led him into his career as a Home Builder and Land Developer in Regina. Cairns Homes Ltd. was born! Jim will always be remembered for his steadfast work ethic, his fairness and for his generosity. He enjoyed the outdoors and many sports including hockey, volleyball, waterskiing, snow skiing, hunting, boating and fishing. One of his greatest passions was his love of flying…piloting his Cessna aircraft. His love of travel with May took them to many exotic places around the world and they eventually wintered in Hawaii and then in Arizona. Summers were spent living in Calgary, until they moved to Red Deer. Jim had an undaunted determination to conquer the game of golf. He shared this passion with May which gave them and their friends many a funny story to remember. It was just in the past few years that his health began to fail. We wish to thank everyone at Correct Care, and at the Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Red Deer, who gave attention to his every need…we appreciate you all. Love knows no limits to its endurance, No end to its trust, no fading of its hope, It can outlast anything, It is the one thing that stands when all else has fallen, We will keep you in our hearts forever. A Memorial Service for Jim Cairns will be held at the PARKLAND FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 6287 – 67A Street, Red Deer, AB on Monday, June 27, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Following the Memorial Service a reception will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, while the family and close relatives attend the Inurnment, at the Red Deer Cemetery on Michener Hill.
