FYFE Carol E. (Betty) December 24, 1943-September 7, 2008 Passed away peacefully at Lacombe Hospital on Sunday, September 7th after a year-long battle with cancer. Betty was born in Hamilton and raised in Ft. Francis, Ontario. After completing qualifications as a registered nurse, she joined the service where she met Jacques. They married and spent 31/2 years in Germany before returning to Quebec City. Their next move took them to Shefferville where they formed many lasting friendships while raising their young family. In 1974 they moved west to Ft. McMurray where Betty continued nursing in northern Alberta for many years. Betty and Jacques retired to Lacombe in 1998. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 42 years, and her three children. Carole (Ryan) of Red Deer, Michel (Cristal) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Diane (Cameron) of Kingston, Ontario and seven grandchildren: Alexi, Peter and James (Carole/Ryan Morcom), Elery, Niall, and Carly (Diane/Cameron MacEachern) and Rylie (Michel/Cristal). She is survived also by her mother, Mary a sister Janice (Rob) and a brother Ernie (Linda) of Ft. Francis, a sister, Loralin Tansley of Brantford, Ontario, and many friends and relatives. A memorial service and internment will be celebrated at a later date in Ft. Francis, Ontario. Betty loved people and was involved in a number of church and community group activities. She enjoyed creating beautiful crafts, playing bridge and square and round dancing. A memorial mass will take place at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Lacombe at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13th, 2008. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
