CLEMENT Lawrence “Gary” Clement of Dickson passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Friday, July 29th at the age of 67 years after a brief battle with cancer. Gary had a strong will and battled his many health problems with courage and dignity. Gary was born August 6, 1937 at Russell, Manitoba. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 45 years Lorna; son Bret and his special angel Sherry McElree of Airdrie, Alberta; his mother Edna Clement of Russell, Manitoba; his brothers Grant and Kelly (Michelle) Clement of Carberry, Manitoba; sisters-in-law Carol Payne of Red Deer, Alberta and Phyllis (Doug) Gillanders of Calgary, Alberta; as well as nieces, nephews, many friends and his faithful poodles Bo and Nicki. He was predeceased by his father Garnet (Hap) Clement. Gary joined the RCMP in 1956 serving in K Division and G Division retiring in 1976 in Edmonton. In his retirement he had a business in Radium Hot Springs and later a small farm. Gary enjoyed going to his winter home in Mesa, Arizona for many years. Gary loved to renovate and was always planning his next project. Gary was a member of the Calgary RCMP Veteran’s Association and the Royal Canadian Legion in Innisfail, Alberta. The family wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses who took such compassionate care of Gary throughout his illnesses. A celebration of Gary’s life will take place on Thursday, August 4th at 2:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Dickson, Alberta with Pastor Randy Fiege officiating. Interment to follow at the Dickson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Bethany Lutheran Memorial Fund or the Dickson Store Museum.
