Clifford LAWRENCE

LAWRENCE, Clifford Mr. Clifford George Lawrence, beloved husband of Mrs. Vera Lawrence of Red Deer, passed away after a brief illness at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Monday, August 2, 2004 at the age of 83 years. Cliff was born on February 28, 1921 at Red Deer, Alberta. He married Elvira 'Vera' Luoma from Eckville, Alberta on February 28, 1944. Cliff served his country during World War II, where he was positioned overseas. After returning from the war, he worked for Red Deer Motors as a mechanic and later began farming in the Hillsdown District. One of the original quarter sections of the farm was homesteaded by Cliff's father in 1905. Cliff maintained the farm for most of his life and continued until his passing. He was a passionate cattleman and was active in the Central Alberta Oil Business, operating wells and overseeing production operations for a small oil company. Cliff will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered in the hearts of his family and dear friends. Cliff leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife, Vera of sixty years, daughters, Lorraine Carpenter, Myrna (Ken) Thorne, Donna (Ron) Paulson, sons, Kenneth and Barry (Marina), grandchildren, Sarah and Jodi Paulson and extended grandchildren, Nicole and Derek Starr. He will also be sadly missed by his brothers, Silas (Phyllis), Angus (Bertha) and Archie, sister, Gladys Nelson and sister-in-law, Jean Lawrence, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Cliff was predeceased by his parents, George and Clara, sisters, Olive Thiem and Ruth Thiem, a brother, John and a son-in-law, Amos Carpenter. A Memorial Service will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapels, 4820 - 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, August 6, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Tributes in Cliff's honour may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 101, 5208 - 53rd Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 5K2.
