Nov. 6, 1973 - Sept. 11, 2017

Our sweet Colleen found peace on September 11, 2017 at the age of 43.

Her exceptional strength, determination, and remarkable courage perpetuated her never-ending positive attitude throughout her journey with cancer, and those traits kept her with us, even when the odds were against her. Judging by the ever-present smile on her face and her ongoing concern for others, you would never have known the extent of her illness.

Colleen was born in Red Deer, the beloved daughter of Murray and Darlene Yarish and protective older sister of Chris Yarish. She met her husband Travis in high school and together they built a life in Red Deer and had two sons, Evan and Kyle.

She enjoyed working at various jobs and was known for her people skills and ability to put people at ease no matter what the circumstances. However, her most meaningful job was always running her home, organizing, and planning so that life ran smoothly.

Colleen was always too busy concerning herself with the comfort and care of others to dwell on her own problems. She had a soft and caring manner that gave love and support to her co-workers, caregivers, friends, family, and most of all, her cherished boys.

Colleen was always game to try anything and was often the source of much laughter when she said or did something completely unexpected. Traditions were very much a part of Colleen's life and she created many memories of Christmas, birthdays and other traditions that her family will cherish forever, and carry on in her honour.

This beautiful soul will be missed by all who knew her, especially her mother and best friend, Darlene Yarish, her soulmate Travis Larder, the apples of her eye, Evan and Kyle Larder, her steadfast brother and sister-in-law Chris and Kristin Yarish, her adoring niece Malia Yarish, her in-laws Wendy Hodgkinson and Alan Lang, and extended family. Colleen was predeceased by her father Murray Yarish.

A celebration of Colleen's life will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 1:00pm at Sunnybrook United Church, 12 Stanton St., Red Deer, AB.

If you desire, donations may be made in Colleen's name to The Lending Cupboard in Red Deer, Alberta, or the Red Deer Hospice Society.
