Bud was born on January 20, 1921 at Rimbey, Alberta where he was raised on the family farm. Bud was gifted by his ability to play a variety of instruments. In 1940 he met and married the love of his life, Margaret Howatt from Hanna, Alberta, a piano player in her own right. They took over the Connett farm at Hoadley and started their family as well as playing for community dances. They then bought and moved to a small farm near Glendon, Alberta in 1946. Again, they made extra money playing for dances in the community halls around Glendon with their musical friends. In 1954 they moved to Lloydminster, Alberta where they raised their family and continued playing for dances. Bud first worked at the Husky refinery and then for the City of Lloydminster. Finally he found his career when they purchased a small appliance repair business and operated "Connett Appliance Repair & Service" business for thirty years until in 1986, when they retired and moved to Red Deer. Bud loved his family, church family, their music and most of all the Good Lord. They played in the "Golden Music Makers" band of Red Deer, where he became known as "Banjo Bud" and as a snowbird, in the Arizona Banjo Band in the winter months. Bud is lovingly survived by his wife Margaret, his daughter Donna Weber of Calgary, a son Gene (Ruth) Connett and a daughter Connie (Darell) Morgan both of Red Deer.
