JOHNSON, Curtis Raymond

Feb. 18, 1945 - Aug. 12, 2017

Curtis Raymond Johnson, beloved husband of Carol Johnson of Penhold, Alberta, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on August 12 at the age of 72 years.

He will be dearly missed by his daughter Jennifer (James) Spiller of Edmonton, Alberta, grandsons Aidan Spiller and Nathaniel Spiller, sister Carolyn Johnson (Larry Rawlings) of Nebraska City, Nebraska, and brother Clare Johnson of Calgary, Alberta.

Curtis was born in Minnedosa, Manitoba, to Johnny and Gladys Johnson. As a young man he joined the U.S. Navy and attended dental technician school. In 1970 he married Carol Zink and in 1978 the family relocated to Penhold, Alberta. Curtis was very active in the community, serving as councilor and then mayor of Penhold for two terms. He enjoyed meeting and working with people, which helped him excel in his careers in sales and as a realtor. He always had time to chat and felt the people in his life mattered, no matter whether they were close friends or acquaintances. He was known to track down people he hadn't seen for years just to reconnect, or drive through snowstorms to visit people, and touched a great many lives. He looked forward to travelling and spending time at Carefree Resort, and especially enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at Innisfail Legion, 1-5108 49 Ave, Innisfail, Ab on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation be made to The Lung Association or the Salvation Army.

His final request was, "Don't touch my stuff. I'm reincarnating."

Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.eventidefuneralchapels.com.
