David RITCHIE

RITCHIE David Ness ‘Dave’ Ritchie, beloved husband of Jessie Ritchie of Red Deer, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at the age of 73 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dave was born on February 27, 1933 at Scotland to Alexander and Elizabeth Ritchie. He moved to Canada in February 1954 to join his parents in Breton, Alberta. He worked in the Lumber Industry for the first few years he was in Canada but then moved on to become an Automotive Mechanic. Dave moved his family to Red Deer in 1969, where he continued his career as a mechanic working for Ultra Sales and Service for eighteen years, picking up his welding ticket along the way. Dave loved camping, gardening and wood working. Dave will be very sadly missed but lovingly remembered and forever cherished in the hearts of his family and dear friends. Dave leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife of forty-six years, Jessie, five children, Beth (Kev), Diann, Alex (Jewel), Karin (Brian), Kevin (Samantha) and eleven grandchildren, all of Red Deer. He will also be sadly missed by his sisters, Ruby (Ernie) Snell of Breton, Alberta, Ann (Ron) Gibbs of New Zealand and Margaret Ritchie of Scotland, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Dave was predeceased by his parents, an infant sister, four brothers and a sister. The Family invites family and friends to join them in a Public Celebration of Dave’s Life at the Red Deer Lodge Hotel, 4311 – 49th Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, May 13, 2006 between the hours of 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, in place of flowers, Memorial Donations in Dave’s honour may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 Arnot Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4R 3S6 or to the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, C/O Palliative Care Unit, P.O. Bag 5030, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 6R2.
