Delbert FOSTER

FOSTER Delbert David Foster of Sylvan Lake passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on March 9, 2008 at the age of 75 years. He was born April 8, 1932 in Warden, Quebec. He was predeceased by his parents Ivan and Romelia Foster; an infant son, Jimmy; his wife, Gwen; grandson Jeffrey Halvorson; his brothers Wilfred Foster and Clifford Foster; and his sister Phyllis Blackwell. Delbert was a loving husband, father of eight, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marguerite; his aunt Elizabeth Collins; his brothers and sisters Winston (Joan) Foster, Garth (Doris) Foster, Janet Donahue, Leland Foster and Beverly (Doug) Bauer; his children Sandi Foster, Wendy (Don) Halvorson, Debbie (Fred) Gibbons, Shirley (Dean) Baber, Jeff (Joanne Howell) Foster, Jeff (Tammy) Hayes, Tim (Nikki) Hayes, and Matt Hayes; his grandchildren Angie Stewart (Bert Jeffries), Benjamin Stewart (Rebecca Fischer), Christy (Daryal) Rogers, Dianna Stewart, Jennifer Halvorson, Jason Halvorson, Janine (Brett) Stavast, Leah Halvorson, David Robbins, Gordon (Lori Sarver) Robbins, Amanda Baber, Cody Baber, Allyson Foster, Shawn Comeau, Jesse Hayes, Hayley Hayes, Logan Hayes, Rachelle Slezinski, Tiffany Hayes, Josh Hayes, Karyna Hayes, Ashley Thomas, Dakota Walley, and Aaron Oliver; his great grandchildren Austin, Daniel, Shea, Tristin, Alex, Raymond, Austin, Reid, Lane, Cheyne, Gavin, Luke, Brianna, Kaleb, Ashton, Jordayne and Bethanie. In the early years Delbert was a farmer in Quebec. He moved to Alberta in 1967 and worked as a hired hand at a couple of farms. He then worked at Alpha Milk and Parson and Currin Livestock Market in Red Deer. After buying a house in Sylvan Lake, he worked for many years at Fleetwood Mobile Homes. In 1976 his wife Gwen of 22 years, passed away, leaving him to raise their five children. Delbert later married Marguerite in 1980 and was a father to her three sons. He then worked for the town of Sylvan Lake for 17 years as a Sanitary Engineer. His hobby was cutting and delivering firewood. Delbert loved animals, especially his horses and dogs. He wasn't one to just sit around, he was always doing something. He was a hard worker who would tackle any job at hand and never complain. Delbert was a devoted husband, father and friend who will be deeply missed by all. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at the Alto-Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Barry Sigurdson officiating.
