Doris LECKIE

October 6, 2004

LECKIE, Doris Irene Doris Irene Leckie of Red Deer went to be with her Lord on October 4, 2004 at the age of 77, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 8, 1927 at Brooking, Saskatchewan and moved to Radville, where she was raised, in 1933. She was predeceased by her daughters Janice Leckie and Lynne Harriott, her son-in-law Dale Oliver, her parents Fern and Gunnard Nelson, her sisters Lucille and Irma, her brother Ronald, and her in-laws Mary and Archie Leckie. She leaves to mourn her constant canine companion Maggie; her children: Penny Oliver of Caroline, Brad (Dorali) Leckie of Calgary, Kirk (Corinne) Leckie of Sylvan Lake, Andrea (Terry) Ashton of Regina, SK; and Wendy Leckie of Calgary; her grandchildren Mark (Marie-Claude), Corey (Robyn), Melissa (Curt), Dawn, Vincent, Jason (Tracy), Ray (Jen), Ernest, Dallas, Aaron, Michelle, Randy (Keri); and her great grandchildren Matthew, Meghan, Owen, and Makayla. She is also survived by her brothers Harold (Olga) Nelson and Earl (Kay) Nelson, and her sisters Selma (Donat) Bellavance, Phyllis (Marcel) Cherpin, her many nieces and nephews and many friends. Her life revolved around her family ˆ both her own and her church family, and she was happiest spending time with them. The pride of her life was her children and grandchildren. She loved her time playing shuffleboard at the Legion, and she was an avid crib and scrabble player. Many of her fondest times in the past few years involved her association with the Church of Christ congregation, and she derived so much joy from giving birthday presents to the children of her church. She was happy spending her last few months at Sylvan Lake with Kirk and Corinne and the dogs Maggie and Thor. A Service of Remembrance will be held from the Davenport Church of Christ, 68 Donlevy Avenue, Red Deer on Thursday, October 7 at 2:00 P.M. Cremation entrusted to the Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta. Sylvan Lake and Rocky Funeral Homes and Crematorium, your Golden Rule Funeral Homes, entrusted with the arrangements. 403-887-2151
