BOYCE Dorothy Marie May 7, 1933 - December 8, 2006 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day - not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." II Timothy 4:7-8. Dorothy Rachar was born in Stettler on May 7, 1933. On September 7, 1951 she married Harold Boyce and they lived and farmed in the Erskine area until 1972. They then moved to Lacombe and then on to Red Deer in 1979. Dorothy's life was very full with raising her family as well as many others that came in to her home. Dorothy's greatest gift was hospitality. Her great cooking resulted in a catering business spanning over 20 years. Most of her adult life, Dorothy served in many capacities in the churches she attended. Family and friends were very important to her. Dorothy's strong faith in God has sustained her all her life. This was most evident in the past 7 years as she faced many health challenges. Dorothy leaves to mourn her loving husband and best friend of 55 years, Harold Boyce of Red Deer. Children, grandchildren and great grand children: Doug Boyce of Red Deer; Lois (Doug) Plett of Gadsby, Mike (Heather) Thibeau, Sherilyn (Derek) Dayday, Keaton and Makayla, Joe (Nicole) Thibeau, Ryan Plett (Stacey Reinke), Amanda Plett, Matt Plett; Diane (John) Gessleman of Alix, Jeremy (Susan) Gessleman and Amelia, James (Angela) Gessleman, Janine Gessleman; Ken (Audrey) Boyce of Red Deer, Seth Boyce (Janaya Rice) Lacey Boyce and Tyrrell, Joshua Boyce; Marilyn (Peter) Caden of Red Deer, Justin Caden, Chara Caden (Matt Poffenroth); Kathy (Sterling) Burrell of Lacombe, Julie (Brad) Steeves, Cindy Burrell; Bev (Lowry) Burrell of Red Deer, Kristi Burrell, Bryden Burrell; Murray (Lahny) Boyce or Red Deer, Meagan Boyce (Shawn Tomlinson), Brandon Boyce, Courtney Boyce, Leah Carberry (Mike Rayburn), Kaylea Carberry; Christine Boyce (Mike Lyons) of Lacombe, Alyssa Boyce, Dymond Dei, Jericho Boyce. She is also survived by brothers, Dave (Evelyn) Rachar, Lloyd (Helen) Rachar, Melvin (Anna Mae) Rachar; sisters, Marion Holte, Ruth (Dewey) Marshall, Grace (Wayne) Green, Betty (Ron) Kesssler, Judy (Ed) Bierbach, Audrey (Steve) Brodersen; brothers-in-law Roger Olson, Elmer (Maureen) Boyce, Norman (Edna) Boyce; sisters-in-law Helen (Lloyd) Rachar, Alice (Jake) VanderBeek, Betty (Bill) Work, Ruth (Bob) Walokoff, Esther Seneca; uncle Ray (Norma) Nims; aunts Hazel Rachar; Freda Nims; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Dorothy is predeceased by her parents George and Laura Rachar, sisters Evelyn Rachar and Donna Olson, brother Charles Rachar, brother-in-law Elmer Holte, and son-in-law Al Thibeau, brother-in-law Allan Boyce,, parents-in-law Walter and Mary Boyce, Gunvor Boyce. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at Crossroads Church, December 14, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation, Samaritan's purse, or a charity of the donor's choice.
