Dorothy CARD

December 7, 2005

CARD Dorothy “Dot” Card of Red Deer passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the Red Deer Hospice on Saturday, December 3, 2005. Dot was born in Edmonton on January 12, 1929 to Cecil and Jennie Costello. She grew up in Edmonton and moved to Red Deer after marrying Joe Card (deceased). Together they raised six children. For thirty years Dot worked at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. Her cheery voice could be heard up and down the hallways as she worked the switchboard. Dot loved traveling to warm and sunny destinations. Just three weeks ago she enjoyed a trip to Vegas and Phoenix. For many years, she was an avid bowler and won numerous provincial and national championships. Tiny, Dot, Dotty and Dotsie were just a few of the nicknames she was affectionately called. Many of her children’s friends fondly called her “Mommy”. She will be deeply missed by all her dear friends and family. Dot will be lovingly remembered by her six children; Donna Baron of Calgary, Gail Schlosser of Red Deer, Linda (Gary) Martens of Red Deer, Sue (Phil) Neufeld of Red Deer, Brian (Karin) Card of Red Deer and Randy Card of Mission, British Columbia, fourteen grandchildren; Lori, Shawn, Travis, Curtis, Derek, Kristi, Tina, Trevor, Tyler, Jimmy, Sabrina, Megan, Jessica and Nicholas and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three siblings; Stanley Costello, Grace Smith and Harry Costello. A Funeral Service will be held at the Red Deer Funeral Home (6150 – 67 Street) on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Father Don Stein officiating. Prior to the Funeral Service, those wishing to pay their respects to Mrs. Dorothy Card can do so at the Red Deer Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until 1:50 p.m. Thank you to the staff at the Cancer Clinic, Dot’s friend and doctor, Dr. Hulyk, and Dr. Graham for their wonderful care.
