DUFFY, Mr. Leslie George "Les" Duffy of Red Deer, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Sunday, February 5, 2006 at the age of 73 years. Les was born on January 20, 1933 at London, England. As a young man, Les served with the Royal Air Force. In 1954, he immigrated to Canada. Les was a very loving and kind father, grandfather and a trusted friend to many. He gained a vast and well versed knowledge in business over the years, mostly with his longtime career in Real Estate. Les was not only a very wise and intelligent man but he was also very talented and creative. He had a passion for reading and was a collector for years of National Geographic Magazines. Les enjoyed creating stained glass pieces and was an excellent gardener. He was a handyman in every aspect and also loved to travel. Les's love of sports, especially hockey was his greatest passion. He also enjoyed playing tennis and roller blading, remaining active in all three sports right up to his seventies. Les became the General Manager of the Colt 45's Hockey and was the driving force behind the Old Timer's Hockey League in Red Deer. Les was an exceptional man who will be very sadly missed but a man whose legacy will live on and be forever remembered and cherished in the hearts of his family and his many dear friends. Les leaves to mourn his loss, his loving children; Gordon Duffy of Vancouver, British Columbia, Matt (Sandra) Duffy of Kelowna, British Columbia, Laurie (David) Long of Penhold, Alberta and Bonnie (Gary) Tanton of Camrose, Alberta and his grandchildren, Courtenay (Chris), Nathan (Cathy), Ben (Jamie), Leah (Steve), Philip, Jordan, Jarod, Hannah, Wyatt, Gillian and Gabriel. Les was predeceased by his parents, George and Violet Duffy. A Public Celebration of Les's Life will be held at the Streams Christian Church, 5350 - 46th Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with The Reverend Matt Duffy officiating. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
