ROBERTS, EARL EYTON 1913 - 2005 Earl Eyton Roberts, a long time Ponoka, Alberta resident, passed away peacefully at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 in his 92nd year. Earl is survived by his loving wife Gwen; children Marv of Calgary and Gail of Burnaby, BC; grandchildren Sarah (Jason) Manning of Edmonton and Jeffery Roberts of Canmore; great-grandsons Hunter and Everett Orr Roberts of Huntsville, Ontario; brothers Don (Marion) of Victoria, BC and Harold of Merritt, BC; and many nieces and nephews; extended family: daughter Bonnie (Ken) Waldern and their children Crystal and Kevin of Ponoka; granddaughters Sheila and Angela, their mother Donna (Art) McLaren, Marion Avison as well as great-grandson Dawson Avison. Earl was predeceased by his first wife of 52 years, Edna, in 1991 and Gordon Avison in 1984. Born in Innisfail and raised in Elnora, Alberta, Earl loved adventure and traveled far and wide. He graduated as a psychiatric nurse from Alberta Hospital Ponoka and then joined the Navy to serve in Halifax. When the war ended, he returned to Alberta Hospital where he specialized in medical records until his retirement. Earl was inquisitive and he had many hobbies: he loved western Canadian history, genealogy, cane making (particularly with diamond willow), writing, walking, attending flea markets, people interactions and stories (his and yours). Retirement gave him opportunity to expand his many interests into full time and joyful activities. Earl’s long life was good.
