September 2, 2006

DUGGAN Edmund Joseph Duggan It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving husband and father on August 29, 2006 in Red Deer, Alberta. Dad is survived by his wife of 53 years Paulene, his children Trish Merrithew-Mercredi, Cathie Brookhart (Craig), Shelley Tucker (Joe), Moira Duggan and Mike Duggan, nine grandchildren (Carl, Daryn, Danielle, Elysha, Chelsea, Tyson, Andrew, Jennifer and Edmund) and two great grandchildren (Siobhan and Will). He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Lola Duggan, his brother, Father Jim Duggan, his beloved daughter Suzanne, as well as many aunts and uncles, and his cousin, Francis. Dad was born in Perth, Ontario on November 14, 1930 and grew up in Creemore and Collingwood, Ontario. He had a distinguished career as an educator in Ontario and the Northwest Territories. He retired as Assistant Deputy Minister of Education for the GNWT in 1988. His career touched the lives of many of his students, staff, and parents. Dad loved the north and his heart was always in the Mackenzie Delta area. We will remember Dad for his all encompassing love for all of us, his beautiful voice and singing, his intelligence, his humor and quick wit, his graciousness, his compassion for everyone, his dogs, and his deep and sense of faith. Dad we all love you and will miss you so much. You have a celestial choir to sing with now and we will think of you every time we hear your favorite pieces. Funeral services will be held on Saturday on September 2, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, #6 McMillan Ave. Red Deer.
