Edna JEFFERS

January 31, 2005

JEFFERS, Edna Marjorie Edna Marjorie (Madge) Jeffers passed away on January 27, 2005, at the age of 85 years. Madge was born in Wawota, Saskatchewan on April 13, 1919. She grew up in Saskatchewan with her brother and two sisters. Madge joined the Canadian Armed Services, serving in the WAC through World War II, and was stationed in England and Belgium. She spent most of her working career with Saskatchewan Power Corporation in Regina. After retirement, in 1988, Madge moved to Red Deer, Alberta to be near her only child Bryon (his fiancé Evelyn Evans), her two grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Eric Syme, and her sister, Lillian Vye. Madge is survived by her son, Bryon Jeffers of Red Deer, her granddaughter, Jackie Lowe of Red Deer, her grandson Sean Jeffers of Calgary, her three great-grandchildren, Cali, Chelsea, and Tevin all of Red Deer, as well as her sister Kathleen (Kot) Maitland of Nanaimo, B.C. She was happiest when with her family. The years in Red Deer were full, happy years. She and her son Bryon, visited Las Vegas at least once a year. It was a vacation she dearly loved, where she could spend time with Bryon and the rest of the family gambling, shopping, and laughing. Madge had a kind, generous nature, always caring for and helping people whenever needed. She worked with the Christmas Bureau for a number of years, and also with the United Way. She always had a warm smile for everyone she knew or met. Even in her last years, the caregivers that helped her said she had a smile that "lit up the room". Everyone who was touched by Madge is richer for the experience. There will be a small memorial service to celebrate Madge's life on this earth. Madge's dearest friends and relatives are invited to gather with the family to say good-bye on January 31st, 2005 at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 - 67A Street, Red Deer, Alberta at 11:00 a.m. with The Venerable Archdeacon Derek Hoskin officiating. If friends desire, memorial donations in Madge's name may be directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, #101, 5208 - 53 Avenue, Red Deer, AB T4N 5K2. Sympathies can be forwarded to the family at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
