SAYERS (Pollock)

Elin Margaret Jean

On Sunday, January 29, 2017 Elin Margaret Jean Sayers passed away in her home at Revera Aspen Ridge in Red Deer. Family was the focus of her life; she never left any doubt about how much she loved us all. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Cindy (Dan), Rob (Sheila), Jared (Mindy) and her six grandchildren; she was "Nanny" to Stephen, Collin, Neil, Lia, Jana, and Cooper, and many more! She is survived by her brother, Larry, and his children, Stephanie and Ian.

Elin was born in Sherridan, Manitoba on July 1, 1940; her family moved to Calgary in 1950. She attended business college and proudly worked as a legal secretary and in banking. In 1967 she married Bob Sayers and together they raised a family and ran several small businesses. They settled in Red Deer in 1978. She worked at LTCHS in the Student Assistance Centre and at the Bank of Nova Scotia, while maintaining a key role in the family business.

With several health issues, she moved to Revera Aspen Ridge in 2010. Thanks to family and friends, the staff and her neighbours at Aspen Ridge, she rallied several times and squeezed the most out of life. Thanks to Dr. Cowie, Dr. Bouch (and their staff) and those who provided care at Red Deer Regional Hospital and City of Red Deer EMS. An informal celebration of her life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the Red Deer Golf & Country Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Lending Cupboard (5406 - 43 Street, Red Deer, T4N 1C9). In her honour, hug your loved ones and make friends with a stranger.
