LANGE, Emilie It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Emilie Lange at the Red Deer Nursing Home on Monday, August 16, 2004, at the age of 96 years. She is survived by her loving daughters, Margaret Schroeder of Red Deer and Clara Burmaster of Barrie, Ontario; also seven grandchildren, Jonathan (Simone) Schroeder, Steven (Cindy) Schroeder and Timothy (Colleen Schroeder all of Calgary, Theresa (Tim) Neigum of Red Deer and Linda (Royden) Mills of Stony Plain; David Burmaster of Barrie, and Rebecca (Jason) Cutler of Kenora, Ontario; seven great grandchildren, Christian, Gabrielle and Jonathan, Jr. Schroeder and Katie Schroeder, all of Calgary, Andrew Neigum of Red Deer; Hannah and Jillian Cutler of Kenora, and Sequoia Burmaster-Carlson of Barrie. Emilie is also survived by one sister, Klara Walter in Bitterfeld, Germany. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl in 1984; two brothers and one sister in Germany. Emilie was born on January 9, 1908 in Austria, the fourth child of Ludwig and Christine Orth. When she was twenty years old, she came by herself to Canada to Winnipeg, Manitoba and was employed as a housekeeper. In 1932, she was married to Carl Lange in Duff, Sask. Where Carl operated his Blacksmith for the surrounding farming community. In 1964, they retired to Regina and made many friends in the church and their residential area. Following the death of Carl, Emilie came to Red Deer where she resided until her passing. Emily was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain. She was interested in reading about health improvement and the use of herbs, especially garlic, and was always ready with advice to anyone she felt needed help. Emilie also spent time with Clara in Barrie, making friends and acquaintances while there. She will be sadly missed by her family and the friends she made while in Red Deer at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, the Downtown House and the Red Deer Nursing Home. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6187 - 67A Street, Red Deer on Thursday, August 19th at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 18 Selkirk Blvd., Red Deer on Friday, August 20, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. with The Reverend James Schuelke officiating. Following a reception at the church, interment will take place in the Alto-Reste Cemetery. Sympathies can be forwarded to the family at www.parklandfuneralhome.com. In living memory of Emilie Lange, a tree will be planted in the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium Memorial Tree Park.
