Ernie RILLING

RILLING Ernie Rilling passed away May 27, 2008 in the Red Deer Regional Hospital after a long battle with arthritis and diabetes. He is survived by his loving wife Laura of 60+ years, his son Cecil, his daughter Shirley Marriott and son-in-law Dennis Marriott. Ernie will also be sorely missed by his grandchildren Russell (Danielle) Neibauer, Julie (Shane) Radomske, Michael Rilling, Dean Marriott, Scott Marriott, Cameron Larocque, Cory Larocque, Carmella (Trevor) Green, & Walter Rogers as well as 8 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his two brothers Herman & Clem Rilling. Ernie was born on the family farm in Trochu on May 8, 1927 and married the love of his life Laura Campbell in 1947. They farmed together until 1993 and retired to the town of Trochu. In the fall of 2005, Ernie's health had deteriorated and they moved to Victoria Park in Red Deer to be closer the dialysis machines and specialists. In his younger years, Ernie and Laura loved camping, fishing and visiting with numerous relatives and friends. In his lifetime, Ernie helped so many people in so many ways. He was a very soft spoken, gentle hearted Christian man that didn’t preach but showed his Christianity and faith by the way he led his life. May God bless you and keep you darling husband, daddy, grandpa and great-grandpa. A celebration of Ernie's life will be held at the Trochu Baptist Church at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 31, 2008. If people so desire, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society.
