Jan. 20, 1939 - Sept. 10, 2017

Errol James McLarty passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the age of 78 years.

Errol was a wonderful man who enjoyed everything about life. He was dedicated, hardworking and loved his family dearly. He will be greatly missed and the family takes comfort in knowing that he will continue to watch over them.

Errol was born January 20, 1939 in Coronation Hospital. When he was four years old, his parents purchased and moved into the Silver Heights General Store. For Errol's elementary education he attended a one room schoolhouse named Aberdovey School. He continued his education through the Brownfield, Camrose and Amisk Schools. Those years were disrupted with the sudden death of his father. Like many farm boys, Errol had two choices; remain on the farm or go to work in the oil patch. Errol did them both, the rigs came first, followed by farming for ten years and then many years welding and building pipelines.

He had a very successful career, but he had a secret dream, which showed his western roots. His favorite place to be was sitting on the rails with the cowboys at the Ponoka Stampede or some other local rodeo.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Kaye; son, Sheldon (Terra); granddaughter, Kalene (Landon); great granddaughter, Everly; Terra's daughter, Anjelica; daughter, Crystal Howse; grandsons, Shaun and Blaine Howse; sisters, Jean Bridge and Janet Bay; brother, Gordon (Shirley) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Errol was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Ella McLarty; Kaye's parents, Art and Dorothy Butterwick and two brothers-in-law, Stan Bridge and Jim Bay.

A Memorial Service will be held at Sylvan Lake Presbyterian Church, 5020 48 Avenue, Sylvan Lake, AB on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 1:30 pm. Lunch will be provided after the service in Yoos Hall on the east side of the church.
